In a shocking turn of events, a photographer, identified as Philip Kwambana, trading as Good Photos, went berserk on Saturday at around 4 pm at CASA pavement in Gweru.
Kwambana allegedly attacked a police officer, whose name has not been disclosed, after a heated exchange.
According to sources, Kwambana had taken a photo of the officer while he was drunk and submitted it to the officer in charge. When the officer confronted Kwambana, the photographer fled the scene, only to return and engage in a physical altercation with the officer.
“I was shocked to see the photographer attack the police officer. It was like he had lost all sense of reason,” said one eyewitness, who wished to remain anonymous.
Eyewitnesses claim that Kwambana grabbed the officer by the collar, assaulted him, and sent him tumbling to the ground. The two engaged in a fierce wrestling match, with Kwambana allegedly assaulting the officer despite attempts by bystanders to intervene.
“The photographer stopped the officer, threatening him with the photo he took, claiming that he had evidence of the officer’s misconduct. It was only a matter of time before things escalated,” another source revealed.
“I tried to intervene, but the photographer was too aggressive. He was shouting and swearing, and it took several people to restrain him. It was a really scary situation,” a third eyewitness described.
In a stunning turn of events, Kwambana, who had been on the run, handed himself over to the authorities on Monday. While the motivations behind his actions are still unclear, insiders familiar with the case have suggested that Kwambana has a complex and volatile personality, with a history of conflicts and disputes, including an incident at City Park.
