Sydney, Australia – Zimbabwe’s healthcare sector has received a boost as First Lady Dr. Auxillia Mnangagwa’s Angel of Hope Foundation received a donation of medical equipment from Australia-based firms Medishare Rotary Australia World Community Service, and EverX.
The donation, which includes state-of-the-art ultrasound machines, wheelchairs, and medical consumables, was handed over to Dr. Mnangagwa in Sydney, Australia.
The equipment will be distributed to hospitals and clinics across Zimbabwe, both in rural and urban areas.
Medishare Rotary Australia World Community Service National Manager, Keith Roffey, said his organisation is more than happy to support Dr. Auxillia Mnangagwa’s vision as a Zimbabwean health ambassador.
“We help to strengthen health systems, and you, as a philanthropist and health ambassador in your country, we are happy to support your vision as you achieve your goal,” he said.
The First Lady expressed her gratitude for the donation, highlighting its significance in improving healthcare services in Zimbabwe.
“The generosity and kindness you have shown to the people of Zimbabwe through the donation of medical goods is truly remarkable.
“The donation will have a big impact on the lives of countless individuals,” she said.
The First Lady also emphasized the importance of partnerships in achieving her vision of providing quality healthcare services to all Zimbabweans.
“We need help for our people to live the life that is expected of everyone to be in. In my capacity, I deal with mostly disadvantaged people… As a mother, I shoulder all that, because I traverse the whole country and I know their needs,” she said.
EverX Managing Director, Ravinder Bindra, praised Dr. Mnangagwa’s efforts in improving healthcare in Zimbabwe, particularly cancer treatment.
“The First Lady, it is so nice to have you here, and we would like to thank you for your hard work. We are impressed by the incredible work you are doing in Zimbabwe,” he said.
The donation, demonstrating global solidarity and shared commitment, is a move set to improve lives of women and children in Zimbabwe.
Dr. Mnangagwa also said efforts to expand healthcare infrastructure in Zimbabwe are underway, with new hospitals currently under construction.
“These ultrasound machines will play a pivotal role in Zimbabwe… Let me also say that through my foundation and its partners, I am building a Mother and Child hospital in Harare, which is nearing completion. I am also building another hospital in the rural area.”
