Mvuma-In a momentous boost to rural development, Minister of Local Government and Public Works Daniel Garwe has commissioned 33 motorbikes for councillors and solarised the Chirumanzu Rural District Council offices in Mvuma.
The development is part of the government’s efforts to promote rural development and improve service delivery.
The motorbikes are expected to enhance the mobility of councillors, improving their visibility and ability to serve their communities effectively.
“Councillors must remain in touch with their constituents and champion their needs. This will enable them to respond promptly to community needs, fostering a sense of accountability and transparency,” emphasized Minister Garwe.
The solarisation of the council offices is a commendable step towards embracing green energy, leveraging Zimbabwe’s abundant sunshine to reduce reliance on conventional electricity. This initiative enables the council to serve its clients uninterrupted, regardless of power outages. By harnessing solar power, the council is reducing its carbon footprint and contributing to a sustainable future.
Minister Garwe praised the council for modernizing its offices, ensuring constant power supply for critical computer databases and software. “This solarisation takes the council to the next generation in terms of power supply and convenience,” he noted. The solar-powered offices will also reduce the council’s operating costs, freeing up resources for other development initiatives.
With the motorbikes and solar-powered offices, the Chirumanzu Rural District Council is poised to make a positive impact in the lives of its constituents. This development demonstrates the government’s commitment to rural development and its dedication to improving the lives of Zimbabweans.
