…..Awaits brewing Licence

Gweru City Council’s beer brewing division, Go Beer, is set to commence operations before Christmas, according to business development manager Rodwell Musiwa.
Speaking during a recent council meeting, Musiwa revealed that the brewery is 98% complete, with only the brewing license pending.
“We expect to operate before Christmas, and what’s left is the brewing license, which we’re working on,” Musiwa said. “The National Social Security Authority has passed the brewery, everything is working, and all that’s left is the license to start production.”
Musiwa also reported that winter wheat harvesting has been completed at Go Beer Farm, and maize planting is underway. The farm had 23 hectares under wheat in April, and Musiwa noted that “between 40 and 45 hectares are already germinating.
” The water situation has also improved, thanks to the Pakamisa Sewer Plant, which provides water for irrigation. The pumps are giving us efficient flows, and the only challenge is power outages,” Musiwa said.
However, Musiwa faced criticism for the slow progress on the Gweru Truck Stop project. He attributed the delay to funding constraints, citing that the council only receives US$2,700 from rentals.
Gweru Mayor Martin Chivhoko expressed concern that the project has stalled for five months, urging the business development department to seek funds from other council departments to complete the project.
“Look for funds from other council coffers and pay back when the truck stop is functional,” Chivhoko advised.
Councillor Norest Dziyakwe emphasized the importance of completing the truck stop, highlighting its potential to generate revenue. He suggested channeling funds from the weekend flea market, which collects an average of US$15,000 monthly, towards completing the project.
