DNA test exposes false paternity claim in Gweru maintenance case

GWERU-A recent Gweru Civil Court case has raised eyebrows as DNA tests have revealed shocking truths about a woman claiming maintenance.
The story which has since become the talk of the town revolves around a local woman, Loice Kubvoruno of Mkoba 5, Gweru who had been seeking financial support for her child, only to find her claims questioned after the results of the DNA test came back and pronounced Gweru Civil Court Senior Magistrate, Blessing Tsingano.
The woman, Kubvoruno, had approached the courts for maintenance, asserting that a local man was the father of her child. On the 29th of October 2024, the plaintiff painted a picture of hardship at Gweru Civil Court claiming the married man, Vincent Moyo had abandoned her and their child, leaving her to fend for the child. Her plea for support resonated with many in the community, as single parents often face significant challenges.
The court had ruled in favors of the minor child, ordering the alleged father of the child, Moyo to pay monthly maintenance fee to the tune of US$55 with effect from 30 November 2024. Until the order is discharged or varied by a competent court.
“In addition the father is ordered to pay school fees for the minor child at the beginning of every school term with effect from the first term of 2025. After the alleged father expressed serious doubt about the paternity of the child, the court ordered the applicant avail the minor child for paternity tests at the expense of the respondent (Vincent Moyo) which he did.
However, the situation took a dramatic turn when the man agreed to a DNA test to confirm his paternity. The results revealed that he was not the biological father of the child. This revelation not only shocked the man but also the community that had rallied around the woman. Many felt deceived, as they had supported her claims without knowing the full story.
