Philip Robinson, owner of Robinson’s Traditional Fish & Chips in Wiltshire, has been hailed for his swift response to an online reviewer’s inappropriate comment about a female delivery driver.
The review, posted on Just Eat, read: “Really hot food always great from Robinsons also hot delivery girl.”
Robinson’s reply was concise, saying they will now send male employees to the address instead.
“Thanks for the kind review of the food, we will make sure a male delivers your food from now on.
“It can seem harmless, but we have to set boundaries with incidents like this… I wouldn’t want them to feel uncomfortable,” he said.
As a business owner with a partner and sister, he emphasized, “Staff safety is paramount to us.”
Fiona Oliver, Joint Chief Executive Officer of Wiltshire Community Foundation, applauded Robinson’s response.
“Harassment, stereotyping, and discrimination targeted towards women and girls happens far too often and is frequently referred to as harmless banter… We must not shy away from talking about these matters and calling out inappropriate behaviour,” she said.
Robinson’s response has sparked wider conversations on gender inequality and discrimination in the country.
