Woman wails in court after husband’s sentencing for daughter’s murder

A heart-wrenching scene unfolded at the Gweru High Court Circuit as a Mvuma woman wailed uncontrollably upon hearing the 30-year prison sentence handed to her husband, Trust Khaki, for the heinous murder of their 15-month-old daughter. The court’s verdict left her shaken and emotionally distraught.
The gravity of the crime cannot be overstated. According to investigators, the toddler was brutally raped and murdered in a desperate attempt to conceal evidence. Judge Munamato Mutevedzi emphasized that murder has severe repercussions and that such monstrous acts have no place in society.
“This heinous act calls for a stiffer sentence to send a message to society,” Judge Mutevedzi declared. “No amount of punishment will bring back the deceased, but a stern message must be sent. The brutal murder has left an indelible mark on the family and community.”
Trust Khaki, 35, from Chirumhanzu in Mvuma district, committed the unthinkable, cutting short his daughter’s life and leaving devastation in its wake. The court found his actions horrific and premeditated.
Deputy Prosecutor General Justin Uladi’s tireless efforts secured the conviction, proving the case beyond reasonable doubt. This tragic event serves as a stark reminder that violence has devastating consequences, leaving shattered lives and a community reeling in shock.
