Zimbabwe and Malaysia are set to sign a cooperation agreement in broadcasting, according to Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister Dr. Jenfan Muswere.
“The Cabinet has approved the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Zimbabwe and Malaysia on cooperation in broadcasting,” said Dr. Muswere. “This MoU seeks to develop cooperation in media and broadcasting in terms of radio and television programs between the two countries.”
Dr. Muswere emphasized that broadcasting is an integral mechanism for promoting freedom of expression and access to information by the public. “The broadcasting industry is a major employer in Zimbabwe as in most other countries, and also plays a critical role in developing artistic talent and showcasing a nation’s culture and traditions to the world.”
The cooperation agreement provides for the exchange of news and news materials, radio and television programs, cooperation in the field of radio and television productions, broadcasting technology, and sharing of best practices and experiences. “The cooperation will also include exchange visits between officials and experts in the areas that the two parties mutually identify,” added Dr. Muswere.
This cooperation agreement is expected to strengthen the broadcasting industry in both countries, promoting cultural exchange and understanding.
