Chiminya granted bail despite state’s opposition in fraud case

Flywell Chiminya, a Master Sergeant and church elder, has been released on bail despite the state’s opposition in a fraud case. Gweru Magistrate Beaulity Dube granted Chiminya $200 bail, with conditions including surrendering his passport, remaining at his Harare residence, and regular police check-ins.

The state had argued against bail, citing flight risk and potential interference with witnesses. However, after a lengthy hearing, the court granted bail, with Chiminya set to return to court on July 23.
He faces fraud charges for allegedly swindling $8,365 from two individuals in a car import scheme, failing to facilitate the purchase and presenting fake documents.

Chiminya, who works as a caterer at Josiah Tungamirai Airbase, is accused of defrauding Beatrice Matafa and Warren Rangai of $8,365 in a car import scheme.
