Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals nurse was on Friday dragged to court Harare Magistrates’ Court facing bribery allegations involving two trainee nurses from Gwanda Multi-Disciplinary School (GMDS) of nursing.
In a posting on X the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), said Memory Mukura (28) is expected back in court on May 16 after she was remanded out of custody.
The NPA alleged that Mukura approached the two trainee nurses and offered to help them pass their final examinations which the complainants sat for on March 7 and 8 this year.
While the complainants were waiting for their results, Mukura allegedly informed them that they had failed the examinations. She then reportedly told them to give her US$500 each so that she could prevail on her uncle at the Nurses Council of Zimbabwe (NCZ) to ensure that they get favourable marks.
The complainants then informed the authorities at the GMDS, who reported the matter to the NCZ resulting in a report being made to the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZAAC).
A trap was then set up for Mukura, and was arrested on May 7 after she allegedly received US$500 from the complainants.
