Men left for dead after attack over snooker tokens

Silobela man was left for death after being attacked by two men armed with an axe and a knife, the incident occurred at Zvibomvu Business Centre in Silobela.

It is the state’s case that Zenzo Moyo (24) of Mathe Shop, Zvibomvu Business Centre in Silobela was playing snooker inside Svingo Bar at the same business centre with the two suspects Moses Mlauzi (27) of Gwetu Village under Chief Malisa in Silobela and Mthandazo Chaka whose particulars are not known.

It was reported that a misunderstanding arose amongst Moyo and the two suspects Mlauzi and Chaka over snooker tokens , the suspects left Moyo in the bar and went away into the darkness and later on Moyo left the bar going to his shop, when he met the suspects who had ambushed him.

It is alleged that Chaka was armed with an axe while Mlauzi was armed with a knife and the two suspects indiscriminately attacked the complainant with an axe and a knife all over his body and he fell to the ground.

It was reported that while the complainant was on the ground the suspects continued to attack him until he fell unconscious and after committing the offence Mlauzi and Chaka fled from the scene leaving Moyo lying in a pool of blood on the ground.

The matter was reported to the police and they attended the scene which lead to the arrest of Mlauzi.

ZRP midlands spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko said the complainant sustained life threatening injuries and is admitted at Silobela District Hospital.

Chaka is said to be still at large and the police have launched a manhunt.

Inspector Mahoko also said that they are appealing to members of the public to always consider settling disputes through dialogue.
