Gweru’s most wanted persons arrested, charged

One of Gweru’s most wanted fugitives who deserted arrests for nearly 3 years following sequence murder and attempted murder charges was caught and dragged to Gweru Magistrate Court on Thursday.
Peter Dube, has been wanted by Gweru police since 2021 over alleged “horrific murder crimes” was charged with two counts of murder and two of attempted murder when he appeared before Gweru provincial magistrate Ms Beauty Dube.
The fugitive Dube who looked frail and face slipped into an expression of weary was represented by Thuso Omega Maputsenyika of Mhaka Attorneys. The accused who in his warned and cautioned statement plead not guilty to all charges was remanded in custody to April 17. He was advised to apply for bail at the High Court.
Advocate Maputsenyika expressed concern over the way his client was handled by the police.
“Your worship, since my client has a medical condition, we had requested that he be allowed to to appear in court half naked, but this has not been observed. My client’s statement was gathered by the police in the absent of his Défense counsel which is against the law, “complained Maputsenyika who preferred his client could be treated with lenience because of his alleged health condition.
“This court has no mandate to preside over this case and offer you bail; you would rather apply for bail at the High Court. Hence you are remanded in custody to 17 April.
Dube flee the country in April 2021 after he allegedly shot his second wife, her suspected boyfriend, her sister and her friend following a domestic dispute.
The suspected boyfriend and his wife’s friend were killed and the wife and her sister sustained serious injuries.
Dube was deported from Ireland to Mozambique for breaching Irish immigration laws after misleading Irish authorities that he was Mozambican.
He was then deported to Zimbabwe after the Mozambican authorities established he was Zimbabwean. Dube was arrested at the Robert Mugabe International Airport on Wednesday.
The charges stem from a harrowing incident in 2021, involving a gun attack that targeted four individuals, including his second wife. Following the hearing, he was remanded in custody until April 17, 2024. Prosecutor Hellen Khoza and Vivian Chindedza represented the state.

Since fleeing the scene in 2021, Dube had managed to evade international law enforcement by using forged documents to traverse borders, eventually leading to his detention and deportation from Ireland to Mozambique, before being brought back to Zimbabwe.
The fugitive was brought to Gweru Magistrate Court, which was surrounded by heavily armed police officers resulting in the end of Dube’s near three-year evasion from justice. This arrest underscores the persistent efforts of law enforcement agencies across multiple nations to secure his capture.
Agreed facts are that on the 22nd of April 2021, and at around 1100hrs, Shelton Chiduku, Gamuchirai Mudungwe,Nyasha Nharingo and Nyaradzo Nharingo went to Masvingo to collect Nyaradzo’s passport. The accused who had married Nyasha Nharingo as the second wife got wind that the four had gone to Masvingo without his knowledge. This did not go down well with him since he was suspecting infidelity between Shelton and his second wife Nyasha Nharingo.
Armed with a Zastara pistol serial number 65165, the bitter accused went to number 11, Bensan Flats where his second wife resided
Since Dube was suspecting Nyasha of having an affair with Shelton, an altercation erupted which prompted the accused to go downstairs and shot Shelton who was seated on the driver’s seat of a Toyota Hiace Registration Number AFI 0969, silver in colour on the front left shoulder and died instantly. After shooting the deceased 1, the accused proceeded to shoot Gamuchirai Mudungwe once on the left cheek near the nose and she also died instantly.
As if that was not enough, Dube went to the upstairs and shot his second wife attempted to kill his second wife Nyasha and her sister Nyaradzo.
