Mine in Boterekwa attacked by armed robbers

A mine in Boterekwa, Shurugwi was pounced by about 20 men armed with machetes, iron bars and two pistols.

It is the state’s case that on 11 March 2024 at about 0230 hours Farai Baziwell (31) was carrying out security perimeter checks at the mine premises when he was intercepted by a group of people armed with machetes, Iron bars and two pistols.

It is alleged that one of the intruders hit Baziwell on the head with an iron bar and they searched him and took cash US$70 and identification particulars.

The culprits are also alleged to have met Tafadzwa Ngureti (23) who had knocked off duty at the mine on his way home and they searched him and took cash US$220 and a cell phone.

The gang is said to have fled the scene after robbing cash and cell phones.

Zimbabwe republic Police midlands province are appealing to anyone with information which can lead to the arrest of the suspects to approach any nearest police station.
