Zimbabweans Celebrate International Women’s Day

Women’s day celebrated under the theme Inspire Inclusion

The international women’s day is celebrated under the global theme “invest in women :Accelerate progress” with a campaign theme “ Inspire Inclusion,” and according to Zimbabwe Gender commission the theme highlights the imperative to foster a society where every woman feels valued, empowered, and included.
International Women’s Day, is observed annually on 8 March where global people celebrates the economic, political and social achievements of women past, present and future


ZGC Chair Margaret Mukahanana-Sangarwe said as they commemorate International Women’s Day, they calls for action to inspire inclusion and drive meaningful change through enactment of the Gender Equality Act as an enabling instrument to translate the Constitutional provisions into reality for the women and girls of Zimbabwe.
She further said that they urge promotion of gender-neutral education and media portrayals to combat harmful stereotypes and foster equal opportunities for all.
Sangware also said that they encourage men and boys to actively work as part of the solution and also mentorship program where there will be initiatives that connect experienced women with young girls, providing guidance and inspiration for future leaders.


“The Zimbabwe Gender Commission remains steadfast in its commitment to promoting gender equality, protecting the rights of women, and fostering an inclusive society where every woman’s voice is heard and valued,” Said Sangware
ZimRights also noted that under this year’s theme they are urging the government, CSO’s and other stakeholders to recognize that socio-economic empowerment is crucial for gender equality as it helps enhance women’s access to education, healthcare, and economic opportunities.
ZimRights said that they continue to champion women’s rights, challenging discriminatory norms, and advocate for policies that create an equitable and just society.
