An infant ,baby girl was found crying, lying naked in a bush , this incident occurred on 1 February 2024 at around 0700 hours at Surprise Mining area in Shurugwi.
It is the state’s case that two female juveniles aged 17 and 11 were send from a Johanne Masowe church shrine to go and fetch water at a nearby pooland while on their way, they heard a voice of a crying baby in a nearby bush.
It is reported that the two juveniles went to check and discovered a naked infant lying near a disused mine pit with clothes scattered around her and they took the infant to the shrine.
The infant was taken to Shurugwi District hospital for medical attention, as part of investigations by the police.
Zimbabwe republic police midlands spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko said that they are appealing to members the public for information which can assist in locating the mother of the infant and shade light into the case to approach any police station.
