Award-winning Harare based Shurugwi author, Miriro Mafumhe Mutasa has dedicated her Dream Discovery Book Award for Outstanding Literary Work (Shona Fiction) for her third book Bongozozo renharembozha to her late father, whom she said inspired her.
Veteran author Nobert Mutsa’s Daughter Miriro who is a twin sister to Mirirai was in cloud nine when she was interviewed by Kwedu News for the award she got for “Bongozozo renharembozha”,
In her novel, Tariro point that while cell phones can make the user feel more connected, it also can distract you and your family from connecting with each other in person.
Speaking on the side-lines of the recent Dream Discovery book Award Ceremony in Gweru, where her novel “Bongozozo renharembozha was highly honoured, Miriro dedicated her book to his father whom she said inspired her and their family to become authors.
“I would like to thank Dream Discovery Publishers for honouring this book. This book is not for me but I dedicate it to my late father, Nobert who was an inspiration not only to our family but nation at large”
“The award is not mine alone but for readers as well for they are the ones that make my perpetual creativity possible,” said the clear spoken Miriro.
Bongozozo renharembozha depicts problems that emanates from abuse of cell phone at work, in a family, community and country set-up. It teaches nations about why misuse of cell phones can be dangerous.
The book is also an answer on why too much cell phone usage can hurt family relationships. Other books she published are Hazvina maturo, kuroorwa kwangu, bongozozo renharembozha, zuva igore, inoreva ndeirikuzhe, Sekuru Nhopi and hunting for peace.
Unlike her father who used to tell traditional history stories in his books, the 41 year old author who is following in the footsteps of his father, writes both traditional and contemporary literature. She has penned 18 books of which only 8 books were published.
Miriro was quick appeal for funding to publish other books and turn published books into film.

Cell phones are an invaluable technology that has fundamentally changed the way we communicate and get information. But as with anything good, too much of it can lead to problems and can actually pull us farther apart and negatively affecting our interpersonal relationships.
