ZRP conscientise citizens ahead of festive season

Zimbabwe Republic Police Midlands Province conscientise members of the public on the need to take precautions so as to protect themselves from crime or from committing crimes during this festive season.
ZRP urged citizens not to be carried away by anti-social behavior associated spirits influenced by festive season moods.
The police said over-excitement, peer pressure and the need to experiment new things are some of the spirits that lead to increased drug and substance abuse and other related crimes.
Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko ZRP Midlands spokesperson said that as the police they are strongly urging the youths not to indulge in drugs and substance abuse due to peer pressure and over-excitement ,to mind strange behaviours of their friends and not to quickly befriend strangers and also not to accept gifts and food items from strangers and even from friends.
Inspector Mahoko said that they encourage parents, to conduct family discussions on the dangers of drug and substance abuse with their children throughout the season, to monitor the behaviour of their children and not to give their children more money than what they can spent.
ZRP said people should not leave their homes unattended and also they encouraged citizens to enhance security by installing alarms, burglar bars, locks and keys and form Neighbourhood Watch Committees to cover their areas throughout the season.
The police also encourages those who drink liquor to be responsible, to leave liquor outlets earlier and to desist from engaging in arguments.
Inspector Mahoko said citizens should not carry dangerous weapon to public places and he also encourages them to quickly report break-out of violence to the police who will be on patrol.
Zimbabwe Republic Police Midlands province said they have intensified their deployments across their areas of policing and they shall be on patrol both during the day and during the night.
ZRP advise the public to obtain contact phone numbers of their nearest police station and to always remember that there is always life after the festive season.
