Armed robbers attack Gweru service station, walk away with US$6000

Armed robbers raided a service at in Mkoba, Gweru and got away with over US$ 6000 cash.
In a press statement, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) Provincial Police Spokesperson, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the incident.
“Zimbabwe Republic Police confirm that the armed robbery case involving USD$6000.00 occurred at Total filling station, Mkoba 6, Gweru on Monday 11th of December 2023 at about 0130hours”, Insp. Mahoko said.
He further said one employee Tinokudzaishe Mastock, a man aged 22 was on night duty when he was approached by one unknown man holding a plastic container looking for fuel.
“He told the suspect that the station had closed; the suspect suddenly produced an unknown pistol and ordered the guard to lie down on his stomach. He tied him on his hands and legs with shoe laces whilst guard was down three more suspects arrived,” Insp. Mahoko said.
Inspector Mahoko said four men forced open the manager’s door where they blasted the safe took away US$6000-00.
He said a silver Honda-fit motor vehicle whose registration number was not noted, arrived and picked the four suspects before driving away
“We appeal for information to help us in this investigation. Businesses are encouraged to bank their money and avoid keeping large sums of money,” he appealed.
