Zimbabwe High Court dismisses 14 CCC Mps’s bid to return

By Harry Taruva

The Zimbabwe High Court has dismissed the challenge by 14 opposition CCC members of parliament to have their recall reversed.

The 14 Mps were recently recalled by one Sengezo Tshabangu who who wrote to Speaker of Parliament Jacob Mudenda claiming to be CCC Secretary General citing that the 14 legislators had ceased to be CCC members.

Mudenda dully obliged and recalled the Mps,declared the seats vacant and Mnangagwa proceeded to proclaim by elections in the affected constituencies.

The Judgement by High Court Judge Justice Munamato Mutevedzi is a damning blow to the country’s opposition who claim Tshabangu is not a member of the CCC.

Meanwhile the opposition party says they are still studying the Judgement.
” We have received the Judgement of the High Court and our lawyers are studying it. We will provide a comprehensive statement regarding the same ” the party said in a statement.

The development comes barely three months after the country held its harmonised elections that were won by Incumbent President ED Mnangagwa but the opposition say were rigged and fraudulent.
