Vungu Rural District Council has today commissioned road equipment and mobile clinic worth about US$55 000. The equipment which consists of one tipper truck, one TLB and a mobile clinic van which were purchased under the devolution fund as part of Council’s efforts to boost service delivery.
In his opening remarks Vungu Rural District Council Chairperson, Mbusi Tobias Ndhlovu said the procurement of the equipment has taken Council to another level in service provision for the residents.
“Devolution fund have heard a tangible impact on the lives of our people as we move towards the attainment of vision 2030, with the rest of our nation. Without government assistance we would have not achieved much as council.
The Provision of the road equipment and a distant health service has become possible through the help of the Government’s devolution fund. The equipment we are commissioning here was procured through devolution. We applaud His Excellency President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, Dr ED Mnangagwa,” he said, while applauding former councilors whom he said played a pivotal role in the development of the local authority;”said Cllr Ndhlovu.
At the same ceremony, the Guest of Honour, Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Hon. Owen Ncube said the second republic will continue providing enabling environment for local authorities such as Vungu to implement e-projects that directly benefit rural communities.
“Ladies and gentlemen, Comrades and friends since the coming in of the second republic, I am told Vungu RDC has managed to complete several projects using devolution funds and local funds. To date a total of Z$394 million has been received by Vungu RDC under the devolution fund,” Minister Ncube said.
Chairperson of the road works department, Yeukai Paradza said promised improved road networks to all Vungu and Chiundura villagers.
“We are here today, commissioning the vehicles which we bought to improve service provision to the residents. Now that we have these vehicles we look forward to see swift responses to the problems affecting the residents like roads. Improved road networks will equally improve our business markets,” she said.
