Zim Police hunt for hit and run car that killed a Zvishavane man

Police in the Midlands Province are on a hunt for a red car that killed a-26-year-old Maglass suburb man in a hit and run incident in Zvishavane along the Masvingo-Mbalabala highway.

The incident occured on Wednesday (20/09/2023) early morning, at around 5 am.

Police say they believe the motor vehicle is red in colour judging from the residue discovered at the scene of the accident and have appealed to members of the public who may come accross any damaged red vehicle suggesting an accident to inform the nearest police.

In a statement, Midlands Police Spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the tragic incident.

“Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms a fatal hit and run road accident which occurred on 20 September 2023 at about 0500 hours at the 136km peg along Masvingo Mbalabala road,” he said.

“A pedestrian died on the spot when an unknown motor vehicle hit him and did not stop.

“The motor vehicle is believed to be red in colour as red fragments were found during scene attendance.

“The now deceased has been identified as Erick Mawere (26) of Maglass suburb in Zvishavane,” Inspector Mahoko said.

“We are appealing to members of the public who might have information or who come across a motor vehicle with damages or dents suggesting it to have been involved in a road accident to help us,” said Mahoko.
