Police in Zhombe have launched a man hunt for Themba Nyandeni (25) who stabbed to death his rival suitor Enock Mugagwi (27) over a young girl (15) after a soccer match.
It is the state’s case that on the 10th of September 2023 at around 1830 hours, Mugagwi was in the company of a young girl whose name remained anonymous because she is a minor of Village Nhengure, Chief Malisa, and Zhombe from a soccer tournament which was held at Nhengure Primary School.
It is alleged that the two met Nyandeni who became angry after suspecting that Mugagwi was proposing love to the young girl, whom he once proposed.
It was reported that Nyandeni who is the suspect drew an okapi knife from his trousers and stabbed Mugagwi once on the chest and fled, Mugagwi fell down and died on the spot.
Zimbabwe Republic Police is still investigating the case and they are appealing to members of the public who might have information that may lead to the arrest of the suspect to inform police station or make use of ZRP suggestion boxes nearer to them.
