YETT hosts leadership seminar for young Zim Women

Youth Empowerment Transformation Trust (YETT) organization recently hosted a young women leadership training where they were grooming young women from across Zimbabwe to become leaders in different genres.


Young women rising training is a leadership training which aims to give rise to female leaders with ideas , skills, talents capacity and knowledge that will nurture leadership competencies gained through guided practice and experience sharing and it was introduced in February 2019 when YETT hosted the Young Women’s Summit as a way of creating a safe space for young women to engage, design concrete strategies and plan on how to strengthen their collective constructive and active engagement in civic processes.


The 2023 young women rising leadership and skills development training was attended by 30 young women who were given an opportunity to learn, grow and build their capacities in skills related to women’s participation and empowerment.
Gracious Dzapasi from YETT said that they designed this program to promote the meaningful participation of young women in development processes ,these programs offer opportunities for young women to participate in different forums, equips young women with leadership skills and, gives them a platform to meet with different people who will mentor them to became great people in life .


During this meeting YETT invited Nyasha Sengai who presented on understanding feminism, Ekenia Chifamba from Shamwari Y emwanasikana who presented on mobilizing community through advocacy, Angeline Ndabaningi from Care who presented on gender and climate change and also Ska Sebata who presented on digital safety and online branding


The mentors who were invited were able to provide capacity building for young women within relevant areas such as Gender, Feminism, Confidence Building, Women’s Rights, Spirituality and Values as well as Sexual and Reproductive Health.


Nyasha Sengai also encourages young women to heal from their past experiences and from their mistakes they made in their past life before they lead anyone, she taught them all qualities of a good leader and also on how to have a better view of feminism without hurting their male counterparts.


Elkenia Chifamba who is the director of Shammwari yemwanasikana also mentors young women to be brave enough to fight for their goals for them to become successful in life and she also use her life experience as way to motiving young women to be bold enough to fight a race of becoming a better person.
Elkania also narrated how she as able to become the founder of Shamwari Yemwanasikana, how she was able to market her project for it to become successful and how it is important for one to brand herself.
Another facilitator who identified herself as Ska Sebata also mentor young women on how to use social media to brand themselves for better opportunities rather than using it for leisure purposes.
