Civil Servants belong to Zanu Pf ,says Central Committee Member

By Dumisani Ndlovu

Gweru based Zanu PF Central Committee Member, Wellington Magura
recently stated that all government workers belonged to the ruling
Zanu Pf party and they are obliged to support the party.

Although, Section 200 (5) of the national constitution obligates
political neutrality for all civil servants, Magura said the fact that
they work for the government lead by the ruling party automatically
means they work for for the ruling party.

Magura who is also an aspiring legislator for the newly established
Mkoba South Constituency expressed his sentiments to the fairly
attended Civil Servants Trust-ED event recently held in Gweru.

The event was attended by representative of heads of government
departments and Zanu PF structures who gathered for the official
launch of the Civil Servants Trust-ED Midlands chapter launch. The
launch was held at Mkoba Teacher’s College hall on Thursday, 27 April
2023.

In a bold-worded statement during his address, Magura who started by
asking a deliberate quest about the different between the political
party and Government declared and bragged that there was no difference
between Zanu Pf and government.
“There is no one who can say there is political interference when you
(Civil Servants) support Zanu Pf, never! Because that’s where you are
employed,” he said with a mischievous twinkle on his eyes.

At the event scores of senior civil servants were chanting Zanu PF slogans.

“Civil servants here present and all government workers are working
for Zanu PF,you must be fuly aware made fully aware that whenever
there is a gathering, you stand for the government and who is the
government, Zanu Pf of course, in fact you are working for President
Mnangagwa”

“What therefore stops Civil Servants to belong to Zanu Pf when they
are working for the ruling Zanu Pf party running the government? We
are looking forward to a situation where civil Servants know that they
are working for the ruling party,” Magura added.

Speaking at the same function Civil Servants TrustED national
chairperson, Loraine Mutenure, who said strongly believes in President
Mnangagwa’s mantra that “Nyika Inovakwa Nevene Vayo”, persuaded those
who attended the event to tell friends about their organisation.

“Tell your friend to tell a friend to come and grab economic
empowerment opportunities so that you don’t rely on salaries,”she
said, strongly castigated Civil servants who resort to strikes and
demanding what she said was unjustified salaries from government.
