Gweru family raped & raided by gang of three

A dark cloud engulfed a Gweru family on Thursday (2 February 2023) early morning when three armed men broke into their house and robbed them of goods worth almost US$15 000 before rapping two of their young daughters.
The incident occured around at 3 am in Ascot high density suburb just outside the Central Business District.
The three men were armed with iron bars, an axe and a hoe.
They covered the couple with blankets and bashed them demanding cash, before raping their daughters.
Midlands Police Spokesperson, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the heinous crime, appealing to members of the public to assist with information that may lead to the aprehension of the criminals.
“Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms investigating a rape and robbery case where three unknown suspects persons pounced on a certain family of four in Ascot suburbs and robbed them of their cash, cell phones, raped two children and subsequently drove away with the family’s Nissan caravan car.
“The Nissan caravan had various hardware tools for sale,” he said.
“On the fateful night, the three unknown accused persons forcibly opened the family’s entrance door using iron bars and suddenly demanded cash from the occupants while threatening them with death.
“They were armed with an axe and a hoe.
“They went on to tie the husband and his wife with a twine, covered them with blankets and assaulted them whilst demanding cash.
“They then ransacked the whole house searching for cash and some portable valuable property.
“They further took the Nissan caravan keys. They went on to rape the family’s two children who were sleeping in another bedroom,” Inspector Mahoko said.
The suspects escaped with seven cellphones, two laptops, US$900 in cash, various hardware tools and a Nissan Caravan vehicle, which have been valued at US$14770.
Inspector Mahoko challenged members of the public who keep valuables at home to enhance their security and ensure that their monies are kept in banks.
“We… are appealing to members of the public for any information that may lead to the arrest of the suspects to approach any nearest police station.
“We urge members of the public to enhance their security measures especially when they keep high value property. We further remind the public not to keep large sums of money in their
houses,” he said.
