Gweru woman attacked by robbers at home

Shamaine Musewe a female aged twenty of Woodlands phase 1 Gweru was attacked by four robbers who forcibly robbed her money in broad daylight.
It is the state’s case that on the 25th of January at around 1530 hours, Musewe was at home when she heard a knock on her door and when she opened the door to attend to the visitor, It is alleged that Herbert Chawatama (23) grabbed her by the neck and started strangling her while other three unknown male suspects demanded for safe keys.
After that, one of the suspects allegedly struck Musewe on the shoulder with an axe and she showed them where the safe keys were, the three suspects opened the safe and stole cash amounting to US$160-00 which was inside and went away leaving Herbert Chawatama (23) wrestling with Musewe.
It is further alleged that one of Musewe’s neighbors who noticed her ordeal alerted other locals who in turn helped to apprehend Herbert Chawatama and the mob assaulted him.
The matter was reported at ZRP Gweru Central and Musewe who is the victim sustained bruises on the neck, swollen lips and a dislocated arm while Herbert Chawatama who was arrested in connection with this robbery case sustained a cut on the forehead and a swollen lip and both of them were referred to Gweru Provincial Hospital for treatment.
Herbert Chawatama one of the suspects is assisting the police with investigations while the other three male suspects are still at large.
